Q) When I try and get a quote for some cars on either Tesco or Direct line, it tells me they cant give me a quote online and il need to ring them. Also, the browser wont let me go back, so they make you close the window and type out another quote all over again! Why do they do this? The car I want to insure is a Nissan Navara D22. I am guessing that its because its a commercial vehicle and they want to check if il be using it for commercial use. I am 18 and have had my licence for a year, and I will be the named driver on the policy, my dad being the main driver who has over 30 years NCB! I managed to get a quote for a new Navara, not the D22 version and that was about £1990. How much do you think the D22 will be? Do you think they might class it as a van and not insure me because im under 21?

A) Try Quickfit, they do great commercial vehicle insurance, plus this time of the month is a good time to insure because they are all chasing their bonuses, got mine quote reduced by nearly 30% if I signed up before the end of the guy`s shift.

I ask because if you think about it you could have bought your car last year for £12, 000, and one year later it's worth £9,000. If you car is written off it isn't as ther inusrance company will pay out on the amount you paid for the car.. this happened to my brother and they only paid the value it was worth on the day of his crash which was considerably less....

A) Unless you agree a value of the car before you take out the insurance (this involves an insurance assessor viewing your car and agreeing the value you state-normally chavved up motors or specialist marques) then they will ask you this but only pay out BOOK price or otherwise known as replacement price.

how can i get a quote for car insurance by filling in 1 form for all companies on web in uk?

A) You can't do it for ALL companies as they all want different information. Confused.com is a broker and will ask several insurance companies. Unfortunately there is no way round the leg work of form filling. Alternatively ask you friends who they use. As long as they are the same age and drive a similar car that will give a good comparison. Me I am 42 and drive a Mazda 5 Diesel and I use Direct Line.

Q) I have been searching car insurance multi websites, gocompare.com, moneysupermarket.com etc etc. I have noticed that the quotes for the same car, same situations are all different on different websites for the same companies?? how can this be?? ok, but norwich union was £473 on confused, £462 on gocompare and then,,, wait for it,,, £509 on their own website its madness!!!

A) It isn't madness, just business. You can get different prices for all kind of items, tangible or not, same items, different prices. It just goes to show that "you get what you pay for" means jack S and always did. A) Of course no one could give you a quote of any kind. But when you describe the car it tells me that it is not an exotic. That it is a hatchback sedan and of low power which would put your car in a very low range in premiums. However, according to where you live, your premium could be higher because of your age and gender.

A) I don't understand why you can't get a quote. Get a non-owners policy good for property damage, liability and uninsured motorist. After you buy whatever car you make up your mind on and get it registered in your name, you can convert your policy to the car you buy. If that's to complicated for you, go to the dealership with an adult.

why car insurance quote from tesco is £550 whereas competitors quote over £1000 ?

A) While you're right to be concerned the fact is that Progressive is a huge company, hardly a fly-by-night operation. If they were to misuse the information you could sue the snot out of them. If you were to call them the same information would be requested. If you were to go into an Progressive office, the same information would be requested. As long as you're sure you're really at the real Progressive website, you'll be fine.
